About Us

In 2003, 19 "newbies" overruled the only paddler on the
team, saving the
team from disgraceful puns, and rewarded themselves with the title, 'The Anniemaniacs." You may have
heard (of) us.

Known for our screaming cheer at the marshaling line, we, the
Maniacs, have made a name for ourselves. We went from caterpillar timing, boat crashes (not all our fault, still some clearly ours), and disappointing races... to Division 1 medals, admiration and fans, and now representing one of the top competitive teams in Portland. And every year we get new shirts.

We're a motley crew. Teachers who fail to pay attention. Engineers proving they too can be built. Significant others dragged in (marriages as a result). Recruits we snagged from other teams. People where this is their first
team sport and people who love it only for the competition. There's turnover every year, but we're like family: we laugh, we fight, and we take road trips.

Entering our 9th season, we are training hard (just ask about our bucket practices). We have a lot of new faces on the boat but everyone has the same look: the desire to race. To represent Portland. To compete against the big boys. And to take home hardware. Cheer us on as we race against some of the best teams in the northwest. We are the Anniemaniacs! When we say ANNIE, you say MANIACS!
